moon phases by free-zero moon phases by free-zero
animated moon phases
not very accurate, the orbit's perfectly circular and it's axis isn't tilted properly, and forget about libration

this is great.. i'm suprised it hasn't gotten more comments, but i suspect thats because you wouldn't see it animated in the thumbs section since their resized and load so slow.
as for the lighting, i like it the way it is.

thanks for making it.

cool I like the textures
lighting is just a little bit too much though
I do it all the time too its just the moon would look
better if the edges on the shadow side were not as apparent.
great animation though
I like it a lot

i'm not sure what you mean about the lighting/shadow... that shadows really soft, i used a handful of lights to keep it from being a hard edge...
in fact i think it's a little too soft, the edge is a little harder in actual photographs
the biggest issue with the look is the way it reflects light though, higher-res it looks very metallic, and even like this it's not as white or as contrasting as it really is...

animation's easy with povray though, especially simple cyclic anim like this, you just use the clock var and it does all the work for you hehe
